Circus Clown
From the time we use
to hang around.
If you saw me now,
you wouldn’t want me
around.
The time we once had.
Now you would only be
mad at me; And say: You
let yourself get run-down
like an old circus clown.
Freshly colored paint-
running down your
face-
Circus clown.
Once in place-Now frayed
thoughts and some place
else.
Not in tune to today’s
sound.
Running round and round.
Like an old shoe polished
but slow to go-
But ready to act out-
Ready to lend itself for
the glow and show-
Circus clown.
